YOUNGSTOWN -- Atty. James Blomstrom, a member in the law firm of Harrington, Hoppe & amp; Mitchell, was recognized by his fellow Ohio attorneys as a "Super Lawyer" in the area of civil litigation defense. The balloting was conducted by the publishers of Law & amp; Politics Magazine.
Blomstrom has been practicing law since 1974 and is based at the firm's Youngstown office, concentrating his practice on civil litigation. A Liberty township resident, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law.
Atty. Kelly J. Morrison, another member of Harrington, Hoppe & amp; Mitchell, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross and the board of directors of the South side Community Development Corp.
Morrison, also of Liberty, has a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and a law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, Calif. He concentrates his practice in real estate law, corporate law, general business law and commercial law.
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Michael Specht, a Hermitage native, has been elected chairman of the board of trustees for Los Angeles-based Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership. Specht has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, a master's in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a law degree from Georgetown University. He is an attorney with Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & amp; Fox in Washington, D.C., and lives in Silver Spring, Md.
Specht has been a volunteer with the youth leadership organization for more than 20 years, starting when he was named a HOBY ambassador while a sophomore at Hickory High School.
CANFIELD -- Forum Health recognized Jim Schmidt, who recently retired as a patrol officer for the Canfield Police Department, for his efforts as a certified child passenger safety technician. Schmidt was Community Oriented Policing coordinator for the department and participated in a program that provides child car seats for families.
