WHEN DINING OUT | Watch what you order

Eating healthy doesn't have to mean you can't enjoy an occasional restaurant meal. Here are some suggestions for dining out:
* Don't eat the whole thing. Don't eat a very large piece of meat. Cut it in half, ask for a doggie bag and bring it home for later.
* Watch what you eat. Get the grilled chicken, and tell the server you don't want it cooked in butter and don't want butter on your bun.
* Ask the server about ingredients or preparation methods and ask to substitute low-fat food for high-fat ones, such as steamed vegetables in place of french fries.
* Remove the skin from poultry at the table.
* Order all dressings and sauces on the side and use them sparingly.
* Choose fresh greens, raw vegetables, fresh fruits, garbanzo beans and low-fat dressing at salad bars. Avoid cheeses, marinated salads, pasta salads and fruit salads with whipped cream.
* Order foods that are steamed, broiled, grilled, stir-fried or roasted.
* Order potatoes baked, boiled or roasted -- not fried. Try salsa or pepper and chives on your potatoes instead of sour cream and butter.
* Order sorbet or fresh, seasonal fruit without whipped cream or a topping for dessert.
