YOUNGSTOWN -- Jennifer Drombetta, 13, a seventh-grader at Volney Rogers Jr. High School, is one of three first-place winners in a statewide essay contest in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Some 2,000 pupils competed in the 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Arts and Essay Contest. Winners were chosen Jan. 26.
The theme for this year's contest was "Keeping the Dream Alive: Peace Through Understanding and Respect."
Winners were honored at an awards ceremony Jan. 29 in Columbus after a meeting of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, which sponsors the contest.
Jennifer received a plaque, $50 gift certificate from Barnes & amp; Noble and a gift package. She is the daughter of Cathy and Peter Drombetta of Youngstown.
Boardman man wins2nd-tier Mega Millions
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Boardman man has won a $175,000 second-tier prize by correctly matching five numbers in the Mega Millions game, the Ohio Lottery Commission announced.
With a ticket he bought at a Dayton gas station, Thomas J. Kastello matched Friday's numbers, 1-6-16-30-49. The mega ball number was 13.
After taxes, Kastello will get $125,125.
The holder of the other second-tier winning ticket, bought at Shell Food Mart, 998 E. Western Reserve Road, Boardman, has not claimed the prize.
