In Sharon, 2 men face charges involving thefts
SHARON, Pa. -- Police arrested Joseph Kirkland, 41, of New Castle Avenue on charges of robbery and theft after he was accused of striking a city woman and taking $55 from her early today.
Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Quinby Street where the assault and theft are alleged to have occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Kirkland was arrested at the scene and held for arraignment, police said.
Police also said a South Ormond Avenue man already held in Mercer County jail on a house burglary charge has had additional charges of burglary, theft and access device fraud filed against him.
Police said Robert T. Carlo, 26, was picked up at the county jail, brought to Sharon for arraignment on the new charges, and then returned to jail.
The latest case involves the theft of a wallet and credit card from the nurses' locker room in Sharon Regional Health System's Women's Center on Jan. 11. Police said Carlo used the stolen card to buy video games and food.
