Citizens should support Warren fire and police

Citizens should support Warren fire and police
EDITOR:
I was honored when asked to be chairperson of the Fire and Police for a Safer City Committee. When I was a child my parents always told me that the most important things to support were the schools, the police and the firemen. We should always be looking to go forward, which means that the future of our community depends on your YES vote on Tuesday, March 2 for the safety forces renewal levy.
In the coming weeks, you'll be hearing much more about the fine work of our safety forces and how we, the citizens, did receive the services promised when we passed the temporary 0.5 percent safety forces levy in 2001.
The levy committee is currently scheduling speaking engagements. If you would like someone to attend your meeting or event, please call Jeremy Rodgers at (330) 507-0343. Representatives from the police and fire departments, as well as community representatives, would be delighted to attend your function, make a presentation and answer your questions.
I would like to remind everyone that the safety forces renewal levy is an income tax and is not collected on Social Security or retirement income. In addition, the funds collected are by law, only permitted to be used to fund the expenses of the police and fire departments.
Each of us plays an important role in making our city a better place to live. Your YES vote will ensure that our new administration will be able to continue to move forward. I ask you to join me as together we look for a better, safer future for our families to live and grow in Warren.
