TRUMBULL COUNTY Officials likely to OK audit of visitors bureau

WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners are expected to approve a scaled-back audit of the county convention and visitors bureau at a meeting today.
The audit, costing up to $15,000, will take several weeks to complete, said Commissioner Dan Polivka.
Auditors will examine if the bureau acted in accordance with state law and handled money properly.
Commissioners James Tsagaris called for an audit of the bureau last month, when he learned the bureau had saved $200,000 from funds that had been passed to it through the county over the last several years.
The audit was to examine the efficiency and governance of the bureau, as well as its compliance with state law and fiscal management.
However, commissioners balked at the $25,000 price tag the Ohio Auditor put on such a comprehensive study.
