English announces plan to seek 6th term in Congress

SHARON, Pa. -- U.S. Rep. Phil English of Erie, R-3rd, is seeking re-election to a sixth term.
English, 47, made his announcement Monday at the Bel-Aire hotel in Erie. The incumbent said he will continue to work on rebuilding the economy "through aggressively pursuing fair trade laws and reforming the tax code." English said that, as chairman of the Steel Caucus and a member of the Trade Subcommittee, he has led the fight to strengthen American trade laws and challenge unfair trade practices. He said he's also been an advocate of tax reform, having successfully pushed for a child tax credit, marriage tax penalty relief, new tax-favored savings opportunities and tax cuts for manufacturers and employers.
English said he will also continue to push for the strengthening of Medicare and improved veterans' benefits.
