OHIO FOUNDATION OF INDEPENDENT COLLEGES
The foundation's Ohio Scholars Program has awarded 858 scholarships, totaling $1.67 million, to students at 35 member colleges for the 2003-04 academic year.
Local students receiving scholarships, listed by scholarship donor, are as follows.

BETHANY COLLEGE, Bethany, Va.
Junior Mary Wheeler of Cortland is one of two students awarded a travel grant to study this summer in another country. She will travel to Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in South America, including a month-long journey through the Andean Region, visits to national parks, Indian communities, archeological sites and political observations. She also hopes to establish contact with Peace Corps volunteers and observe their work.
A social work major minoring in Spanish and international relations, Wheeler is the daughter of Jeffrey and Barbara Wheeler and a Lakeview High School graduate. At Bethany, she is secretary of both the Model UN organization and the German Club, and a member of the Political Awareness and Spanish clubs. She also is a member of the college band, is a resident assistant and has written for the student Folio magazine.
WESTMINSTER COLLEGE, New Wilmington, Pa.
The following local students were among 40 members of the Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber singers who performed earlier this winter in five southern churches, including churches in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia: sophomore English and music major Jamiee Davis of Warren, daughter of James and Patricia Davis and a Howland High School graduate; junior theatre major Justin Bryan of New Wilmington, Pa., son of Larry and Tracy Bryan and a Wilmington Area High School graduate; sophomore music education major Darci Kuhlber of Grove City, Pa., daughter of David and Diana Kuhlber and a Grove City Area High School graduate; and, senior psychology major Tiffanie Scilla of Mercer, Pa., daughter of Shirley and Paul Scilla and a graduate of Mercer High School.
WESTMINSTER CHOIR COLLEGEOF RIDER UNIVERSITY, Princeton, NJ
Rebecca Fetrow, daughter of Charles and Ann Fetrow of Cortland, is a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, with a schedule including performances this season with the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center and the Cleveland Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York. Fetrow, a senior majoring in voice performance and music education, is a 2000 graduate of Lakeview High School.
