GROVE CITY COLLEGE Current affairs panel features experts from Army War College



GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Military experts will take part in a current affairs panel from 9 a.m. to noon Monday in Sticht Lecture Hall at Grove City College.
The panel, coordinated by the World Affairs Council in Pittsburgh and Dr. Earl Tilford, a professor of history and military historian, will be presented in three sessions.
The sessions at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. will feature panelists from the Army War College who will discuss a variety of national-security and other issues as part of the Eisenhower Series College Program.
The speakers are:
ULt. Col. Bobby Claiborne: "Africa: AIDS, Anarchy and American National Security." Claiborne is attending the U.S. Army War College and served active duty as a ordnance officer until 1992. Claiborne has served in a variety of command and staff positions in the United States, Korea, Germany, Panama, Japan, Bosnia and Hungary.
ULt. Col. Terry Ferrell: "Iraq: From Kuwait to Baghdad and Beyond." Ferrell, a student at the Army War College, has held leadership positions at Camp Casey, Korea; Fort Hood, Texas; Baumholder, Germany; National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif.; Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Carson, Colo.; and most recently, Fort Stewart, Ga. Farrell's peacekeeping experience includes two rotations to Bosnia, and he was commander of the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
ULt. Col. Tom Hueg: "McNATO: Has NATO Enlargement Gone Too Far?" Hueg was assigned to the C-141B Starlifter cargo aircraft upon completion of undergraduate navigator training and flew missions all over the world, including the former USSR and northern Iraq.
ULt. Col. Gary Langford: "Forging Consensus: The National Strategy for Combating Terrorism." A student at the Army War College, Langford has served in military assignments that include a variety of command and staff positions from fire direction officer and platoon leader to nuclear special-weapons officer and executive officer in rocket and cannon weapon systems.
ULt. Col. Katherine Miller: "Defense Transformation: Changing the Way We Fight and Changing the Way We Think." Miller has served in the United States, South America and Europe, and her early assignments include duties with the Military Police as a criminal investigator, a police combat support platoon leader and installation provost marshal. She has commanded law enforcement, recruiting and prison companies.
