Pretrial probe leads to more assault charges

SHARON, Pa. -- Police said a pretrial investigation for a city man accused of sexually assaulting two boys over a period of six years has led to charges that the man also assaulted an infant girl.
Dean L. Custer, 45, of Logan Avenue, is scheduled for trial in Mercer County Common Pleas Court next week on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and indecent exposure.
Accused of assaulting the boys between 1994 and 2000, he was arrested in July 2003 on those charges. The boys were 4 and 9 at the time the assaults started, police said.
Additional charges of indecent assault and indecent exposure were filed against him Thursday.
Police said he is accused of having sexual contact with a 1-year-old girl in his home in the summer of 2002.
He was arrested at the Mercer County Jail and arraigned before District Justice James McMahon and returned to jail on $10,000 bond.
