LOWELLVILLE -- The village school district will continue its open enrollment policy for the 2004-05 school year.
Applications will be available at the school's main office March 1 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from March 2-5 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Health and safety expo
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chaney High School will sponsor its third annual Family Health and Safety Expo from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the school, 731 S. Hazelwood Ave.
More that 30 agencies will participate in the event to include exhibits and information as well as a blood drive sponsored by St. Elizabeth Health Center, and activities for children ages 4 to 8 sponsored by Kids Zone.

Checking car seats
BUTLER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting child car seat checks this week as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
Parents should bring their children and child car seats with instructions and their vehicle owner's manuals to one of two check locations.
To instruct parents in proper car seat installation, car seat checks will be conducted from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Cranberry Township Fire Department, 20727 state Route 19, and from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the New Brighton Fire Department, 610 3rd Ave. Parents are urged to arrive no later than 5:30 at each location.
UPMC Horizon also announced a program under which it rents car seats to mothers who have given birth in UPMC hospitals. Call (724) 589-6232 for more information about that program.
