HONORED Contact E.A.R.S. holds dinner to recognize volunteer service



A new training class is set to begin Feb. 28.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Contact Emergency Assistance Referral Service Helpline held its annual recognition dinner Jan. 22.
Awards were presented to volunteer telephone workers in honor of their hours of service.
Mistress of ceremonies was Ruth Ray, and Shirley Senko, executive director, reported on the new computerized referral information program that enables the telephone workers to rapidly search for programs and agencies able to help callers in need.
Lewis Ayers, past president, was recognized for his service to the organization. He continues to serve on the board of directors. Paul Latsko, president, introduced the officers and spoke on the upcoming volleyball play-athon to be held in March.
Anna Reeher, volunteer training coordinator, urged those present to recruit new telephone workers as spring training classes begin Feb. 28 at the Jameson Rehabilitation Center.
New volunteers who have completed training and were commissioned are Marlene Criswell, Roger McClay and Siegfried Redmann.

The following volunteers were recognized for hours of service: Mrs. Ray, 13,000 hours; Calvin Ray, 12,500 hours; Debbie Replogle, 3,000 hours; Karen Gish, 2,000 hours; Anna Reeher, 1,500 hours; Diane Klingensmith, 1,000 hours; Joyce Ierace, Paul Latsko and Kathleen Rumbaugh, 500 hours; Shirley Tegethoff and Donna Young, 400 hours; Gay Kline and Mildred Ratvasky, 300 hours; Margaret Currie, Karen Esposito, Martha Johnson, Barbara Kaufman, Debbie Reynolds, Marsha Stanley and Pearl Young, 200 hours; and Lauren Black, Patty Grass, Sandy Palmer, Joanne Piscitelli and Cynthia Swanson, 100 hours.
