YOUNGSTOWN -- Artists may apply through April 2 to participate in the juried fine art show at the sixth annual Summer Festival of the Arts. It's scheduled for July 10-11 at Youngstown State University. Entries will be accepted in three categories: two-dimensional fine arts, three-dimensional fine arts and fine crafts. Irish Music Session
GIRARD -- Musicians will gather at 6 p.m. Feb. 15 for the monthly Irish Music Session at Girard Multi-Generational Center, 433 Trumbull Ave. Traditional songs are sung and performed on acoustic instruments. Audiences are welcome; admission is free. Call (330) 545-4034 for information.
Lute player to perform
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Internationally known lute player Paul O'Dette will perform at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Penn Avenue at Clinton Street, as part of the Friends of Music at Holy Trinity series.
O'Dette has made more than 100 recordings and several have been nominated for Gramophone's "Record of the Year." His "Complete Lute Music of John Dowland" was awarded the prestigious Diapson D'or de l'ann & eacute;e.
He is director of early music at Eastman School of Music and is artistic director of the Boston Early Music Festival.

Open forum at Oakland
YOUNGSTOWN -- Oakland Center for the Arts will hold an open forum concerning ideas for next year's season. The session will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the theater, 220 W. Boardman St.
'Women of Note' series
YOUNGSTOWN -- Stambaugh Pillars' "Women of Note" series will continue Feb. 23 when Damaris Peters Pike performs her "Alias George Sand: Mistress of Chopin" show at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. A light lunch will be served at 11 a.m., and Pike's performance will begin at noon. Sand was a French novelist who assumed a manly personality in name and attire and whose love affairs were the talk of French society. Tickets are $20.
