2 charged in robbery try
LIBERTY -- Two men are accused of trying to rob a township convenience store and handcuffing the cashier to a shelf.
Aaron Brion Hollis, 25, of Akron, and Jason Amir Moore, 26, of Cleveland, were arrested Saturday on felony charges of aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon under disability and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful restraint.
Police say the men, wearing dark clothes and hooded ski masks, entered the Stop Mart, 4495 Loganway Ave., shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday and ordered the clerk into the back of the store, where they handcuffed her to a set of shelves. The woman told police the men were carrying guns.
She said that when she told them there was no safe in the store, they tried to open the cash register, but were unsuccessful. Police were notified when a customer became suspicious when she went inside and could not find anyone in the store.
Reports say the men left the area in a red Cadillac, and a volunteer firefighter who had a scanner in his vehicle and heard the report notified the Ohio State Highway Patrol that he was following the vehicle. Patrol officers stopped Hollis and Moore near the Portage County line, and recovered the weapons and ski masks in the car, police said.
When Moore was searched before booking at the Trumbull County jail, a set of handcuff keys was recovered from the waistband of his pants, reports show.
The men were being held in the county jail pending arraignment today.

Reports show police will issue an arrest warrant once more information is obtained.
