SHARON, Pa. -- Winner Advertising has been named agency of record for New York-based Modern Baked Products, a subsidiary of Modern Italian Bakery. Winner's first task will be to introduce the company's new line of low-carbohydrate hearth-baked products to the retail and food service industries.
Jobless rate is mixed in Mercer, Lawrence counties
The unemployment rate dropped slightly from November to December in Mercer County. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry said the jobless rate was 4.5 percent in November and 4.4 percent in December. The actual number of people working dropped from 55,200 to 54,800 while the number actively seeking jobs dropped from 2,600 to 2,500.
In Lawrence County, the rate nudged upwards two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.6 percent in December. The unemployment rate remained below the year-ago rate for the fifth consecutive month. It was down from 7.7 percent in December 2002.
