DEKALB, Ill. -- Scott Cutley scored 16 points as Kent State beat Northern Illinois, 69-67, Wednesday night in a Mid-American Conference game.
Northern Illinois (7-13, 2-8) took a 33-32 lead at the half, but Kent State (15-3, 9-1) came back.
Kent State was 16-of-25 at the foul line while Northern Illinois was 13-of-23.
Bryan Bedford added 11 points and John Edwards had 10 for Kent State. Northern Illinois was led by Perry Smith with 21 points, Todd Peterson added 15 and James Hughes had 10.
Ball St. 77, Akron 71, OT
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Matt McCollom made 14 straight foul shots to finish with 20 points. The teams traded the lead 15 times, with Akron (10-9, 4-7 MAC) drawing even for the final time on Rick McFadden's 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining in regulation.
McFadden is from Struthers High.
The Cardinals (9-9, 6-4) scored the first four points in overtime and never trailed.
John Hollingsworth scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half, and Akron shot 52 percent overall. Akron was led by Derrick Tarver's 16 points, and Jeremiah Wood finished with 11. McFadden, of Struthers, started the game. He finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
Peyton Stovall finished with 13 points and Robert Owens had 10 for Ball State.
Miami 66, Bowling Green 60
OXFORD -- Monty St.Clair scored 16 points and helped Miami (11-7, 7-3 MAC) take control early. Juby Johnson added 12 points and Danny Horace 11 for Miami. Ron Lewis led Bowling Green (9-11, 5-5) with 25 points, and Kevin Netter had 21.
W. Michigan 79, Cent. Michigan 63
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Mike Williams scored 20 points and collected 11 rebounds to lead Western Michigan. Ben Reed scored 21 points for the Broncos (16-2, 9-1 MAC), while Anthony Kann added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Reggie Berry scored 13 points. Central Michigan (3-17, 0-10) was led by Gerrit Brigitha with 16 points while Kevin Nelson added 12.
E. Michigan 77, Buffalo 66
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Markus Austin scored 19 points and John Bowler had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Eastern Michigan (8-10, 3-7 MAC). JaQuan Hart had 12 points and James Douglas 11. Turner Battle led Buffalo (8-10, 4-6) with 20 points. Daniel Gilbert scored 11 points and Mario Jordan 10.
