PENNSYLVANIA Union's Hannon surpasses 1,000

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Craig Hannon scored a game-high 32 points Tuesday and went over 1,000 for his career as the Union High boys basketball team defeated Western Beaver, 67-61.
Union built a 14-point fourth quarter, then held off a late Western Beaver rally.
Hannon needed 19 to reach 1,000, and his 21 points in the first half put him over the top.
He now has 1,013 career points.
Bob Burkes also scored 13 points for the Scotties (14-6 overall, 8-2 in Section 1-A).
Marvin Taylor led the Golden Beavers with 15 points.
Farrell 65, Neshannock 60
FARRELL, Pa. -- Farrell broke open a close game with a 22-11 surge in the third quarter for a win in a WPIAL Section 2-AA game.
Clarence Clay took scoring honors for Farrell with 24 points. Kellen Newby chipped in with 15.
The Lancers were led by Bobby Preston with 22 points. Jeff Genkinger and Brandon Ryan tallied 11 apiece.
Shenango 72, Laurel 59
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Wildcats (15-6, 6-3) moved into sole possession of second place in Section 2-AA and will play first-place Farrell on Friday in New Castle.
Phil Thompson and Steve McNees each scored 14 points, with McNees adding 12 assists and three steals, for Shenango.
Terry Grossetti also had 13 points and seven rebounds and Shawn DeJohn and Matt Norge 12 points apiece.
Mike Burkett and Corey Collins each scored 14 points for Laurel (14-8, 5-4), while Bobby Turner added 10.
Mohawk 78, Riverside 59
ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. -- Shawn Carr had 37 points and six assists as Mohawk (12-7, 4-5) kept Riverside (4-17, 0-9) winless in Section 2-AA.
Shane Finnin added 20 points and seven rebounds for Mohawk.
Riverside got 13 points apiece from Jimmy Morgan and Brian Mohr while Eric Goldstrom added 12 and Dan Reed 10.
