Man sentenced for damaging school buses

STRUTHERS -- Judge James R. Lanzo sentenced Lawrence M. Conzett, 20, of Sexton Street to 180 days in jail and one year's probation for possessing criminal tools used to cut the brake, heating and transmission lines on eight school buses Jan. 29.
Conzett pleaded no contest to the charge in municipal court Wednesday. He was also fined $200 plus court costs and ordered to make restitution for the damage within 90 days.
The court hasn't determined the amount of restitution, but schools Superintendent Sandi DiBacco said the cost to repair the buses topped $10,000.
Conzett's case was bound over to the grand jury on two other charges: disrupting public service and vandalism.
He also pleaded no contest to criminal damaging and trespassing charges Wednesday and will be sentenced March 5.
The buses were parked at the Garfield Street bus terminal when they were damaged.
Conzett gained entry by cutting a section of fence surrounding the bus lot and was spotted by police as he was running away from the terminal.
