KENT -- The Canfield High School ice hockey team will take on Euclid Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the first round of the Sectional-District tournament at the Kent State University ice arena
The top four seeds for the event are Shaker Heights, University School, Mentor and Trinity. Twenty-five teams are in the district bracket.
Tri-City Speedwayplans anniversary
FRANKLIN, Pa. -- Tri-City Speedway's 50th anniversary season in 2004 will be highlighted by a July 4 show that will feature seven divisions of racing at the half-mile dirt oval in Venango County.
Sunday evenings throughout most of the season, the NorthPointe Automotive Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & amp; Heating Pro Stocks and Victory Lane Graphics Thundercars compete in five-star racing programs. On July 4, Late Models and Sportsman Modifieds divisions will also be contested.
The Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds and Late Models will compete in 20-lap feature events while the E Mods, Pro Stocks and Sportsman Modifieds race in 15-lap feature events. All of those divisions will also run heats and B mains. The Thundercars will close out the show with a 12-lap feature race.
Adult grandstand admission will remain at $10 for this event. Gates will open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m.
The Giant Eagle/Edward Jones Investments Fireworks Extravaganza is June 27.

Boardman Parkto offer martial arts
BOARDMAN -- Boardman Park is offering a martial arts program for kids and families.
Anyone ages 6-12 and 13-50 can join the program, which will meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., starting Feb. 23, at the Boardman Park Community center.
This program is involved taekwondo, karate, kick-boxing, taichi, yoga and Pilates.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster men's basketball standout Ed Pagley (New Castle) has been named player of the week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Pagley, a 6-foot junior guard, averaged 21.5 points as the Titans posted wins over Washington & amp; Jefferson (118-111) and Bethany (103-81). He scored 22 points against W & amp;J and had a team-high 21 points, four assists and four steals against Bethany.
Badget is 3rd
SALEM -- Jarrod Badget of Canfield placed third in the 500-meter short race and second in the 1000-meter long race in the novice division for the Salem Vipers speed skating team at the Ohio Buckeye Speed tournament in Marion.
John Cannon of Leetonia qualified in the 700-meter long race in the novice division and the 500-meter in standard division.
Skook netsgame winner
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Zack Skook made the game-winning goal Tuesday as the Boardman ice hockey team topped Allegheny 4-2 at Blade Runners.
Jim Pipoly added two goals and Pat Rafeedie chipped in with one. John Yuhaniak made 39 saves.

Cavs' Battie on injured list
CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers activated rookie guard Jason Kapono before Tuesday night's game in Detroit and placed forward Tony Battie on the injured list with a bruised left knee.
Battie, acquired in a Dec. 15 trade with Boston, has been bothered by a sore knee for weeks. The Cavs have had to reduce his practice schedule and have monitored him closely.
He is averaging 5.8 points and 5.3 rebounds.
The Cavs are hoping rest will help Battie, who has been playing with a bulky brace on his knee. Until he returns, DeSagana Diop is the club's only reserve big man.
Kapono, taken in the second round by the Cavaliers, missed six games with right knee tendinitis.
Devils' Rafalskireplaces Stevens
NEW YORK -- Brian Rafalski will replace fellow New Jersey Devils defenseman Scott Stevens on the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Voted in by fans as a starter, Stevens has missed the past 12 games due to a concussion. Rafalski will make his All-Star game debut Sunday in Minnesota. He was named to the North American All-Star team in 2002 but missed the game because of a knee injury.
Also, Vancouver Canucks forward Markus Naslund and Devils defenseman Scott Niedermayer were named captains for the All-Star game.

BOSTON -- The New England Patriots held high their second Super Bowl trophy in three seasons before a raucous downtown crowd, celebrating a championship that was as thrilling as the first one.
Before a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd in City Hall Plaza, Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady stood with team owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and dozens of teammates amid a hail of red, white and blue confetti. Brady and Kraft hoisted the twin Super Bowl trophies as they led a parade to City Hall.
