EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin set up goals for each other and Dan Cloutier stopped 24 shots in his third shutout of the season. Brendan Morrison and Trevor Linden added power-play goals for the Canucks.
Canadiens 2, Islanders 1
MONTREAL -- Rookie Michael Ryder scored the winning goal midway into the third period. Ryder scored his 15th goal with a shot from the right side that went in off goalie Garth Snow's glove. Ryder leads all NHL rookies with 39 points, three more than the Islanders' Trent Hunter. Mike Ribeiro scored for the third straight game and Jose Theodore made 27 saves for Montreal, which won its third straight.
Bruins 6, Sabres 2
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Bruins won their fifth straight game as Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist. Thornton registered his 400th career point with an assist on Mark Knuble's first-period goal, which tied the score at 1. P.J. Axelsson had a goal and two assists, while Martin Lapointe, Glen Murray and Nick Boynton also scored for Boston. Andrew Raycroft stopped 26 shots for the Bruins, 13-3-2 in their last 18 games.
Lightning 5, Predators 2
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Pavel Kubina, Dan Boyle and Ben Clymer scored second-period goals and Cory Stillman added three assists for Tampa Bay. Denis Arkhipov kept Nashville in the game by scoring twice in the second period. Martin Erat and Vladimir Orszagh added two assists each for Nashville, and Martin St. Louis had two assists for Tampa Bay.
Red Wings 3, Avalanche 2, OT
DENVER -- Brett Hull scored 57 seconds into overtime after two Colorado players were hit with penalties at the end of regulation. Detroit had a two-man advantage to start overtime after Steve Konowalchuk and Adam Foote were called for four-minute high-sticking penalties with 1.6 seconds remaining. Although NHL overtimes are played four-on-four, in this case the Red Wings were given a 5-on-3 edge to begin the period.
Flyers 5, Thrashers 1
ATLANTA -- Antero Niittymaki had 20 saves in the second start of his NHL career. Simon Gagne, Mark Recchi, Sami Kapanen and Tony Amonte scored in the second period for the Flyers. Serge Aubin had a goal for the Thrashers.
Maple Leafs 5, Senators 4, OT
OTTAWA -- The Maple Leafs erased a four-goal deficit and won on Owen Nolan's overtime goal. Mats Sundin's goal with 5:03 remaining in the third period tied it 4-4. Darcy Tucker, Mikael Renberg and Matt Stajan also scored for the Leafs. Trevor Kidd made 26 saves. Goals by Daniel Alfredsson, Martin Havlat, Brian Pothier and Josh Langfeld staked Ottawa to a 4-0 lead. Ottawa lost leading scorer Marian Hossa when he was hit in the face by Ken Klee's shot and bled heavily. Hossa was helped off the ice and didn't return.
Blues 2, Flames 1
CALGARY, Alberta -- The Blues snapped an eight-game winless streak on Scott Mellanby's goal with 4:15 remaining. Calgary had a power play for the final two minutes of the game, and had a 6-on-4 advantage with Turek pulled for an extra skater for the last minute. But the Flames didn't get a shot on goal.
Sharks 5, Coyotes 0
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- All-Star Patrick Marleau scored his team-leading 23rd goal as the Sharks won their fourth straight home game. Alyn McCauley, Scott Hannan, Alexander Korolyuk and Marco Sturm also scored for the Sharks. Evgeni Nabokov needed just 20 saves to record his second straight shutout, and third in four home games. Coyotes goalkeeper Brian Boucher lost for just the fourth time in his last 18 starts as the Coyotes' winless streak extended to six games.
