HIGH PRAISE: State Rep. Sylvester D. Patton of Youngstown, D-60th, was named the winner of the 2004 Jack Wolfe Memorial Award by the Ohio Association of Elected Officials and Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell. The annual award is given to the Ohio legislator who demonstrates exceptional support and commitment to improving Ohio's election process. Blackwell said Patton has been a strong advocate for election reform, particularly election security.
Let's rock: Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is scheduled to be the guest for a Rock the Vote Youngstown event set for 7 p.m. March 1, the day before the state's primary, at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center's Chestnut Room. The event is free and features entertainment.
Candidates forum: The Youngstown Arts and Entertainment District Association will sponsor a candidates forum at 6 p.m. Monday at the Ohio One Building's auditorium on the second floor. Candidates running for Mahoning County commissioner are invited to speak.
Trumbull politics: A forum for candidates running for Trumbull County commissioner is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Warren YWCA on North Park Avenue. The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County, the YWCA, the A. Philip Randolph Institute and the Downtown Warren Business Association.
