SHARON Justice sets preliminary hearing for man accused of murder
SHARON, Pa. -- District Justice James McMahon has set a preliminary hearing for 2 p.m. Feb. 11 for Anthony C. Teague, 33, of Baldwin Avenue, who is accused of killing his former girlfriend.
Two earlier hearing dates were canceled.
Teague is charged with one count of criminal homicide in the Jan. 12 shooting death of Tedda Otey, 31, of Youngstown.
Authorities said the two had lived together for years and had four children but that Otey had recently moved out with the children, relocating with relatives in Youngstown.
She came back to Sharon on Jan. 12 to pick up medicine for one of the children and wound up in the Baldwin Avenue home she had shared with Teague.
Shootings
Police said he shot her once in the head with a .38-caliber handgun between 9 and 10 that night, then shot himself once in the chest before fleeing the scene in her car.
He abandoned the vehicle near a friend's home in Brookfield, and police later recovered the car and the suspected weapon.
Police didn't find Otey's body until about 11:40 a.m. Jan. 13.
Teague was arrested at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Jan. 13. He was discharged from the hospital Jan. 14 and waived extradition to Pennsylvania to face charges the next day.
He was arraigned before Justice McMahon on Jan. 15 on the homicide charge and remains in Mercer County Jail without bond.
Police said the couple's children are staying with Otey's Youngstown relatives.
