John Carroll outlasts Mount Union, 84-80, for 15th win of season

CLEVELAND -- Jerry Angel scored 17 points to lead the John Carroll men's basketball team past Mount Union, 84-80, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday.
David Gibbons and Brandon Mimes each added 13 for John Carroll (15-4, 10-3 OAC), which outscored the Purple Raiders 44-36 in the second half.
Brad Gerard scored 20 to lead Mount Union (12-8, 7-6).
Frostburg 75, Grove City 70
FROSTBURG, Md. -- Dan Ryley scored 20 points to lead Frostburg (11-9).
Tanner Prosser had 18 points to lead four Grove City (9-11) players in double figures.
Allegheny 72, Hiram 62
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny used a big second half run to pull away in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.
With Hiram leading 41-40 with just under 13 minutes remaining, Allegheny went on a 25-6 run over the next eight minutes to take control.
California (Pa.) 69,Slippery Rock 65, OT
CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- Kevin Handy scored 12 points to lead three California (16-5, 5-1) players in double figures in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-West game.
California, which has won 11 straight home games, outscored Slippery Rock 14-10 in overtime.
Nathan Lankford had 14 points for The Rock (5-15, 2-4).
Women
ALLIANCE -- Shayla Bell scored 18 points and Meagan Heller added 10 for John Carroll, which defeated host Mount Union 67-58 in an OAC game.
Heller also had 12 rebounds for John Carroll (10-10, 6-7).
Lisa Dubinsky scored 13 and Lauren Friedrich added 12 for Mount Union (10-10, 6-7).
Bethany 66, Ohio Eastern 44
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Kelley Richardson had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Bethany (16-4).
Katie Hardie, a Cardinal Mooney High graduate, added 14 points for the Bison.
California (Pa.) 71,Slippery Rock 41
CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- Amanda Chojnacki scored a team-high 10 points for Slippery Rock (10-10, 3-3) in a PSAC-West game. Erin Frankovich added nine rebounds.
Sameera Philyaw scored 20 to lead four California (21-0, 6-0) players in double figures.
