GIRLS HOOPS Davidson comes off the bench for Irish



The senior led Ursuline to a 68-30 romp over Cardinal Mooney on senior night.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline High senior Courtney Davidson came off the bench to score 16 points and dished out nine assists, as the Irish defeated visiting Cardinal Mooney, 68-30, in a Steel Valley Conference girls basketball game on Wednesday.
Davidson was the only senior who did not start for senior night.
Sophomore Tyra Grant added 10 points and six rebounds for the Irish (16-2, 4-0, who took a 27-11 halftime lead. Vannessa Dickson added 14 points and Rebecca Slattery scored 10.
Amber Bodrick scored 13 to lead the Cardinals (5-11, 1-3). Colleen Zajac added six rebounds.
Wilson 50, Campbell 44
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kesha Letlow scored 21 points and Rhonnesa Griffin had 14 for Woodrow Wilson.
Leslie Norwood added 13 for Wilson (3-14).
Kristin Grachmin scored 15 and Tierra McIntosh added 13 for Campbell (0-17).
Canfield 53, Alliance 40
CANFIELD -- Nikki Garrett scored a career-high 20 points to lift Canfield in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Garrett had seven points in the first quarter, as Canfield took a 17-8 lead. Corey Hoffman scored 16 points for the Cardinals (12-5, 8-2), while Stephanie Zunic added 10.
Jan Kehres scored 15 points to lead Alliance (4-11, 0-8).
Howland 40, Niles 38
NILES -- Niles guard Shannon Floyd missed a game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer as Howland rallied from a 32-26 third quarter deficit.
Carolyn Hanshaw scored 18 points to lead the Tigers (8-7, 4-4 MAC), while Sara Krezeczowski added 14 points and Melissa Airhart grabbed 12 rebounds.
Stacia Ray scored 13 for Niles (8-7, 3-6), while Floyd and Stephanie Parish each scored eight. Kelly Leonard added eight rebounds.
Salem 62, Struthers 28
STRUTHERS -- Alyson Cotter scored 17 points to lead Salem, which has won 16 straight since a season-opening loss to West Branch.
Sarah Hamilton added 13 for the Quakers (16-1, 10-0 MAC), who can clinch the MAC title with a win against visiting Howland Saturday.
Holly Hickenbottom scored 15 to lead the Wildcats (3-13, 1-9).
