HORIZON ROUNDUP Loyola snaps losing streak against Detroit, 80-77



The Ramblers needed overtime to win for the first time in nine games.

CHICAGO -- DaJuan Gouard had a career-high 27 points as Loyola of Chicago overcame a 10-point deficit in the final 1:40 of regulation for an 80-77 overtime victory over Detroit Saturday.
The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for Loyola (7-13, 3-7 Horizon League.)
Gouard, who entered the game with a six-point average, scored seven of his points in the final minute of the game, and added seven more in overtime. He was 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
Loyola took a 32-23 lead late in the first half, but the Titans (9-10, 3-6) ran off 11 unanswered points and were ahead 40-35 at halftime.
With the score tied at 73, Gouard hit two free throws with 1:58 left in overtime, but Detroit went back on top as Elijah Warren sank a free throw and hit a a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left.
Gouard answered with his own 3-pointer with 36 seconds left, and Louis Smith hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.
Gouard was one of five Ramblers in double figures. Smith, McMillan and Blake Schilb all scored 13, and Demetrius Williams had 12.
Rulon Harris and James Thues led the Titans with 16 apiece, with Ryvon Covile and Jimmy Twyman adding 11 and Warren 10.
Ill.-Chicago 74, Butler 71, OT
INDIANAPOLIS -- Cedrick Banks scored 22 points, all in regulation, and Armond Williams added four of his 17 points in overtime as Illinois-Chicago held off Butle.
The Flames (15-7, 6-4 Horizon League) led by 11 points with under six minutes to go and by seven points with just more than a minute remaining in regulation. Butler (8-11, 4-6) then got 3-pointers by Avery Sheets, Mike Monserez and Jamie Smalligan, sending the game into overtime tied at 64.
The victory snapped the Flames' 10-game losing streak to Butler.
Wright St. 72, Cleveland St. 56
DAYTON -- Drew Burleson and DaShaun Wood each had 15 points to lead Wright State.
Wood, who also had a game-high six assists, shot 4 of 6 from the floor and a perfect 7 of 7 from the free throw line.
Wright St. (11-9, 8-2 Horizon League) didn't relinquish the lead after Seth Doliboa's free throw broke a 3-3 tie about four minutes into the game. Doliboa finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Vernard Hollins scored 13.
The Raiders led the Vikings (4-17, 0-10) 38-23 at halftime.
