TOP 25 WOMEN Duke defeats N.C. State for 50th ACC win



DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Alana Beard scored 21 points to help No. 2 Duke rally to beat North Carolina State 75-56 Friday for its 50th straight Atlantic Coast Conference victory.
Iciss Tillis added 18 points, and Mistie Bass had 13 for Duke (16-2, 7-0 ACC).
Beard, who scored 17 points in the second half, and Tillis each had seven points during a 23-3 run that erased N.C. State's early 10-point lead.
Kaayla Chones had 16 points and Sasha Reaves added 10 to pace N.C. State (10-11, 2-6 ACC). Chones hit six of her first nine shots from the field, including a layup that put N.C. State up 29-19.
But Duke would not be down for long and trailed 36-34 at the break.
The Blue Devils opened the second half with a 14-0 run. Bass put Duke up 48-36 with a short jumper with 15:49 left in the game. N.C. State went 8:38 without a field goal during a stretch that spanned both halves.
N.C. State never again got closer than 61-53. The Wolfpack hit 17 of 32 first-half shots (53.1 percent) but was limited to 6-for-25 shooting (24 percent) in the second half.
