CLEVELAND (AP) -- Browns running back William Green has been reinstated by the NFL, which lifted its indefinite suspension after he completed an inpatient treatment program.
Green was suspended for four games in November for violating the league's substance-abuse program. However, the ban was extended while the second-year back got help for drug and alcohol abuse at a facility in Boston.
Team spokesman Todd Stewart said Green recently returned to the Browns' training facility in Berea, Ohio.
Green's suspension came after he was charged with drunken driving and marijuana possession on Oct. 27. He has a March 8 court date.
Last week, Green was denied a request to reunite with his fiancee, who is accused of stabbing him. Asia Gray has pleaded innocent to stabbing Green in the back with a steak knife on Nov. 19 during an altercation in their home.
Green ran for 559 yards and one touchdown before his suspension.
As a rookie, the former Boston College star, rushed for 887 yards -- 726 in his final seven games -- and helped the Browns make the playoffs.
