Family dinner planned to mark Ponikvar jubilee

XMcDONALD -- Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ponikvar of McDonald will be guests of honor today during a family dinner at the Springfield Grille in Boardman as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosting the event will be the honorees' children and spouses, Mike and Cheri Ponikvar of Vienna; Debbie and Lou Sobinovsky and Jean and Tom Fetherolf, all of McDonald; Mary Ann and Kirk Doman of Murray, Utah; Cindy and Gary Melik of Girard; and Karen and Bill Leasure of Niles.
The former Shirley Cosner and Mr. Ponikvar were married Jan. 30, 1954, in Thomas, W.Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Ponikvar both worked for Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren. She retired in 1997 and had worked in harness assembly. Retiring in 1995, Mr. Ponikvar retired as a mill-rod machine operator. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
The couple are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Their family circle also includes 12 grandchildren. A son, Rick Ponikvar, and a grandchild are deceased.
