Event focuses on child passenger safety
YOUNGSTOWN -- On Feb. 9, during National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, Dr. Michael Gittleman, emergency physician, and Susan Laurence, injury prevention coordinator, both from Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, will speak on "Child Passenger Safety: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow."
Child-passenger safety technicians, advocates, law enforcement officers and others interested in learning more about optimizing safety for young vehicle occupants are invited to the free presentation at 11 a.m. in Auditorium C of the Medical Education Building at Northside Medical Center.
There will also be displays featuring car-seat manufacturers, retailers, agencies and programs working to educate about vehicle occupant protection from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A Child Safety Seat Check, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley SAFE KIDS Coalition, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Forum Health parking deck by reservation only. To make a reservation to have a car seat checked, call (330) 884-4031.
