XWILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The wedding of Elizabeth Anne Ridler of Charlottesville, Va., and John Christopher McDermott of New York City took place at 3 p.m. Jan. 17 at Wren Chapel on the campus of The College of William and Mary.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Gregory L. Ridler, 17 Port Tack, Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Poland.
Mr. McDermott is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. McDermott, 85 Lawrence Place, New Rochelle, N.Y.
The Rev. Sandford Key officiated at the private family ceremony, and a dinner followed at the Williamsburg Inn.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Hot Springs, Va., and are living in New York City.
The bride wore a sheath-style gown of ivory silk crepe designed with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a sweep train.
Mrs. McDermott is a graduate of The College of William and Mary with a bachelor's degree in English and history. She also holds a master's in English literature from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and is pursuing a career in publishing.
Her husband graduated from Fordham University in New York City with a bachelor's degree in finance. He is an analyst at Norddeutsche Landesbank in New York.
