PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL Ford leads Mathews to 8th win
South Range defeated Beaver Local.
VIENNA -- Tara Ford scored 28 points, leading Mathews High to a 72-26 victory over Jackson-Milton, in a girls basketball game on Thursday night.
Melanie Roscoe added 12 points and she had 14 rebounds to lead the Mustangs (8-1). Sara King finished with five assists and Sophie Paddock had seven blocked shots.
Jackson-Milton (5-5) was led by J. Valent with seven points.
South Range 58, Beaver Local 42
LISBON -- Heather Stacy led South Range with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Kelsey Witmer added 13 points, with six assists, for the Raiders (4-7). Cindy Schuler had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Michelle Pingley recorded 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals, and Brittany Oliver had five steals.
Mallory Yaiko scored 21 points for Beaver Local.
Fitch 58, Hubbard 31
HUBBARD -- Emily Woodall paced Fitch with 19 points.
Krista Mayes added 17 points and Meghan McDermott scored 10 for the Falcons (6-4).
Hubbard was led by Shelia Drummond's 10 points.
Mooney 44, Struthers 27
STRUTHERS -- Amber Bodrick led Mooney (5-3) with 17 points.
The Cardinals led 24-7 at halftime, before Struthers rallied to within 34-24 after three periods.
The Wildcats (2-7) were led by Cole Robenolt, who scored 14 points.
Columbiana 42, South Park 33
CLEVELAND -- Stacie Cross scored 10 points to lead Columbiana in a game played at Case Western Reserve University.
Whitney Goist and Lisa Simon had eight rebounds apiece for the Clippers (9-2). Simon also had six blocked shots and Krista Johnson had five assists.
Laura Belechak led South Park (2-10) with 20 points and Michelle Hunzinger had 11 rebounds.
Salem 63, Hickory 51
SALEM -- Katherine McGarry scored 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Salem.
Sarah Hamilton added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Quakers. McGarry and Hamilton each had six assists.
Marshall scored 20 points for Hickory.
