New officers of Salem Historical Society inducted during annual Christmas event



SALEM -- New officers were installed when Salem Historical Society met Dec. 14 for its annual Christmas program at the Alterra-Sterling House.
Sarah Knight conducted the installation ceremony for David J. Shivers, president; Robert L. Guehl, vice president; George W.S. Hays, one-year trustee; George Kaufman, H. David Evans and Carol Lehwald Horton, three-year trustees; Laurie Thomas, secretary; and April Trenkelbach, treasurer. Those reappointed to office were Janice G. Lesher, curator; David C. Stratton, director; and Dale Shaffer, historian.
Outgoing officers who received recognition for their service to the society were Hays, JeanAlice Fehr, Daniel Williams and Penny Lippiatt.
Bill Hiltbrand and Arlene Barnett provided a program on Christmas carols.
The next meeting will be held Jan. 11 in the meeting room with Atty. Tim Brookes of East Liverpool presenting the program, "Ohio's 104th Regiment in the Civil War." For information call (330) 337-8514.
