BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- D.J. White hit a 7-foot turnaround jumper with 14.7 seconds remaining Friday to help Indiana hold on for a 69-68 victory over Oral Roberts.
The Golden Eagles (9-3) had a chance to win it on the last possession, but Ken Tutt's 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the back of the rim. Oral Roberts was led by Luke Spencer-Gardner who hit six 3-pointers, finished with 20 points and became the 24th player in school history to top 1,000 career points.
White scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half and grabbed 11 rebounds to give Indiana (4-6) its second straight victory. Bracey Wright added 15 points, 11 in the first half.
Marshall Strickland hit a 3 with 2:34 remaining, giving the Hoosiers a 66-62 lead. Oral Roberts answered with a 3 from Spencer-Gardner and took its first lead since early in the first half when Spencer-Gardner hit another 3 with 1:29 remaining.
Wright, however, drew a foul, hit 1-of-2 free throws and then grabbed his own rebound. After Indiana called timeout, White posted up for the winning shot with 14.7 seconds to go.
Oral Roberts tried to set up a play for Spencer-Gardner but he was guarded too closely and Tutt's shot was too long.
The Golden Eagles' leading scorer, Caleb Green, was limited to just six points before fouling out with five minutes to go.
