Spartans rout Asheville

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Paul Davis and Kelvin Torbert led a balanced offense with 15 points each and No. 23 Michigan State beat North Carolina-Asheville 92-63 on Wednesday night.
Alan Anderson had 14 points, Shannon Brown 13 and Maurice Ager 11 for the Spartans (7-2), who shot 56.4 percent from the field and led by as many as 37 points in their only game in a 15-day span.
Omar Collington and Steven Rush each had 14 points for UNC Asheville (3-7), which committed 21 turnovers, 13 on Michigan State steals.
Wisconsin 76, No. 18 Alabama 62
MADISON, Wis. -- Alando Tucker scored 21 points and Wisconsin stifled No. 18 Alabama's high-powered offense.
The Badgers (9-2) took a 33-23 halftime lead behind the Big Ten's best defense. Alabama, the Southeastern Conference's leading offense at better than 86 points per game, scored on seven straight possessions to start the second half, cutting the lead 42-37.
But the Crimson Tide (10-2) went scoreless for almost three minutes after Ronald Steele's basket cut the lead to 54-46 with 6:18 left.
Tucker's 3-pointer gave the Badgers a 65-48 lead, their biggest of the game, and Wisconsin cruised from there.
The Badgers haven't lost at Kohl Center since Dec. 4, 2002.
Penn St. 80, Long Island U. 56
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Marlon Smith had a career-high 33 points to lead Penn State in the consolation game of the ASU Hoops Classic.
Smith, who made 12 of 18 from the field and 5 of 9 from beyond the 3-point arc, had 21 points in the first half, matching Long Island's total.
The Nittany Lions (6-6) led 40-21 at halftime and ran away to snap a four-game losing streak.
James Williams had 14 points and Kellen Allen 12 for the Blackbirds (4-6).
Michigan 66, Delaware St. 48
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Courtney Sims scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to help Michigan pull away from Delaware State.
The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Wolverines (7-5).
Chris Hunter added 15 points for Michigan. Delaware State (3-9), playing on the road for the 11th time this season, lost its third consecutive game.
Aaron Williams led the Hornets with 18 points, while Jahsha Bluntt had 17.
