WARREN -- A 40-year-old North Road Northeast woman told police she accidentally wrecked her 2004 Pontiac in a ditch on Draper Street Southeast.
Upon returning with a tow truck at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, she founds someone had poured bleach on the interior and cut up the upholstery.
Criminal damaging
WARREN -- Duffy's Pizza, 2024 Larchmont Ave. N.E., reported criminal damaging to police.
It was discovered at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday that someone had damaged the glass on the front door of the business.
Trailing stolen goods
YOUNGSTOWN -- Eight coils of flat stock used for gutters taken from the yard and garage at Gutter King on Market Street on Tuesday may have been sold to a scrap dealer in Austintown, reports show.
Police have the suspect's license plate number and identity. As of Wednesday, no arrest had been made.
Phone, cigars stolen
YOUNGSTOWN -- The burglar alarm sounded at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday at Logan Gas Mart, 1704 Logan Ave. Police found the front window broken but it didn't appear that the place had been entered. A cordless phone and two cigars were missing from the counter adjacent to the broken window.
Man shot in foot
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 52-year-old High Street man who tried to use home remedies on a gunshot wound to his foot because he has no medical insurance eventually sought treatment Tuesday evening at Beeghly Medical Center in Boardman. The victim said he had been walking back home from a store around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday when he heard at least six gunshots and felt a sharp pain in his left foot. He ran home. He told police he didn't see who fired.
Store clerk scammed
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Speed Check clerk at the McGuffey Road store was scammed out of $2,058 by a man who called saying the Western Union machine was malfunctioning. The clerk was given a code number and told to send $950 in the name of David Caine as the sender to Carson Caine, the receiver. The clerk complied. The man called back, saying the money wasn't received and to send it again. The clerk complied. A $79 fee applied to each transaction that took place Monday. The clerk realized he was scammed because amounts under $1,000 require no identification. The store owner received a call Tuesday night with the caller giving the same Western Union-machine-broken-story and made another request for money. The owner did not comply. He called police.
Motorbike is stolen
YOUNGSTOWN -- The front-door glass was smashed in at Auto Zone, 3323 Market St., at 1:49 a.m. Wednesday and a mini motorbike worth $450 taken, reports show.
The district manager said the alarm company watched the break-in on a satellite TV screen.
Howland school board
HOWLAND -- The township board of education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at its administrative offices, 8200 South St. S.E., for its annual organization meeting and any other business. Also, the board has scheduled a 7 p.m. Feb. 7 meeting at the same location to discuss retaining Treasurer Thomas Krispinsky, who had planned to retire.
'Living with Stroke'
HOWLAND -- Forum Health is sponsoring a class for stroke survivors and their care-givers. "Living with Stroke" is held from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 4, 6, 11 and 13, at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital. The class is divided into four sessions and covers topics from causes and types of stroke, bowel and bladder care, nutrition, medications and care-giver needs and support. Weathersfield DUI patrol
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Weathersfield Township Police Department will continue its work as part of the Trumbull County DUI Task Force by having two additional officers on the roads making DUI checks on New Years' Eve.
These will be in addition to the regular patrols, Police Chief Joseph Consiglio said. The extra officers will be on the road from 9 to 11 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday night. The DUI Task Force is funded by the state, which provides the money to pay for the work of the extra officers.
