On Sunday, vandals damaged six machines, all located in the vicinity of U.S. Route 224, by pouring glue into the machines' operating mechanisms. The damage, estimated at $1,200, was discovered and reported to police Monday.

Youngstown manis shot to death
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city registered its 22nd homicide of the year Tuesday when Richard E. Owens, 41, of Worthington Avenue died in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot early in the day.
A witness said he saw Owens walking and bleeding from the head in the Kenmore Avenue area about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday and brought him to the hospital. Medical staff told police test results showed that two bullets possibly entered the victim's skull near the hairline of the forehead.
The emergency room doctor said the victim would not have been walking with that type of injury. Owens' daughter said the last contact she had with her father was when she dropped him off at the witness's house on Woodland Avenue on Sunday evening, reports show.
There were 19 homicides in the city in 2003.
