BOYS BASKETBALL Koltsov leads Lakeview to double-overtime win



Salem's shooting was impressive in a win over Sebring.
CANFIELD -- Alex Koltsov scored five of his game-high 20 points in the second overtime, leading Lakeview High over Canfield 59-57 in a boys basketball game on Tuesday.
Trevor Mathews and Ed Mackiewicz added 10 points each for the Bulldogs (5-1). Mathews and Canfield's Jordan Ferns traded baskets for the only points of the first overtime, which ended tied at 51-all.
Kyle Melewski scored 13 points for the Cardinals, while Lance Randall and Sean Baker added 12 apiece.
Salem 44, Sebring 35
SALEM -- Salem didn't attempt many shots -- just 36 -- but shot 47.2 percent from the floor. The Quakers were 17-of-36 overall, while Sebring was just 12-for-49 (24.5 percent).
Jarin Heath led Salem (3-3) with 13 points and he had six rebounds and six assists. Ben Miller and Ryan Benchwick had seven rebounds apiece for the Quakers, who outrebounded Sebring 35-15.
Joe Amabeli scored 13 points for the Trojans (5-1), while Joe James had nine points and five rebounds, and Dan Scarpitt had three assists.
Springfield 65, Struthers 56
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Zack DeJane led Springfield with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Luke Summers had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Dane Dobson finished with 17 points and four assists for the Tigers (6-2).
Struthers (3-4) was led by Dave Mathews, with 25 points, and Alan Daniels, scored 10.
Niles 46, Rayen 43
NILES -- Andrew Cleary scored 15 points for Niles, which trailed 27-26 at halftime but took the lead by outscoring the Tigers 14-6 in the third period.
Justin Allen added 11 points and Bill Frech scored 10 for the Red Dragons (4-4).
Rayen (2-6) was led by Maurice Clark, with 16 points, and Dominique Crosby, with 10.
Youngstown Christian 52,East Liverpool Christian 31
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Eagles were tied 23-23 at halftime, but outscored East Liverpool Christian 29-8 in the second half.
Dominic Vitullo led Youngstown Christian (2-5) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Stephen Setnick added 11 points, while Aaron Agresta scored eight. Anthony Lagamba had six steals.
East Liverpool Christian is 5-4.
Columbiana 61, Lowellville 44
COLUMBIANA -- Eric Ostrander had 15 points and six assists for Columbiana, while Dave Vitko added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Also for the Clippers (5-3), David Jackson had 13 points and three steals, and Jared Patton had 11 points.
E. Barone scored 12 points for Lowellville (5-4), while John Wilaj scored 10.
South Range 48, Crestview 46
NEW WATERFORD -- David Rauh scored 13 points for South Range (3-3), which outscored the Rebels 19-9 in the second quarter.
Andy Walton led Crestview (1-8) with 18 points and nine rebounds.
United 68, Malvern 55
HANOVERTON -- Jake Roelen scored 29 points, making seven 3-pointers, to lead United (5-2).
Bubba Taylor added 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles, who committed just five turnovers.
B.J. Strock scored 22 points for Malvern, and Brad Fletcher added 12.
Lisbon 50, Western Reserve 47
LISBON -- Marcus Judy scored 19 points, leading Lisbon to its sixth win in eight games.
Judy also had five assists, while Dom Defilippo had eight points and 14 rebounds, and Josh Grafton three steals.
Dave Ferrando paced Western Reserve (3-4) with 16 points and Chris Truitt scored 14.
Carrollton 57, West Branch 40
BELOIT -- Corey Leggett scored 17 points, Matt Velain added 13 and Zach Pridemore finished with 12 for Carrollton.
West Branch (1-7) was led by Andy Pappas (10 points) and Jon Cosma (eight rebounds).
Grand Valley 54, Maplewood 48
CORTLAND -- Jordan Snyder scored 24 points and John Lanphear added 13 for Grand Valley (5-2).
Maplewood (2-3) was led by Dan Morrison, who scored 17 points. Jake Abbott added 11 points and Craig Clemson finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
New Castle 54, Farrell 48
FARRELL, Pa. -- Demetrius Fearcy scored 12 points to lead New Castle over Farrell in the Steelers' Christmas Tournament.
Hakeem Fitzpatrick and Dave Richards added 10 points apiece for the Red Hurricanes.
Farrell (8-2) was led by Ramone Williams, who scored 17 points, and Domonique Blackwell, who had 14.
Shenango 63, Greenville 58
MERCER, Pa. -- Shenango's Steve McNees had 19 points and nine assists, as the Wildcats advanced to the title game of the Mercer Holiday Tournament.
Shawn DeJohn added 18 points and Ryan Grafton scored 10 for Shenango (8-1), which will play Mercer tonight at 7:30.
Matt Fell scored 24 points and Mark Lauffer added 12 for Greenville (7-2).
