BIG TEN ROUNDUP Tuesday's other games

Valparaiso 69, Penn State 56
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Seth Colclasure scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures as Valparaiso defeated Penn State in the first round of the Arizona State Hoops Classic. Jimmie Myles and Dan Oppland each added 13 points and Ron Howard had 12 for the Crusaders (3-6). Geary Claxton scored 17 points to lead Penn State (5-6). Aaron Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Travis Parker added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Nittany Lions, who have lost four in a row.
Indiana 71, Ball St. 59
INDIANAPOLIS -- Bracey Wright scored 29 points and D.J. White added 12 as Indiana snapped a six-game losing streak. Indiana (3-6) was effective inside and outside, and the Hoosiers took advantage of a Ball State offense that never seemed to get in sync. It was easily Indiana's most complete game of the season -- a performance it desperately needed to snap its worst losing streak since 1967-68. Ball State (5-4) was led by Terrance Chapman with 18 points and 14 rebounds and Dennis Trammell, who had 16 points. But it was a new lineup that gave Indiana a jump start. Coach Mike Davis started A.J. Ratliff instead of Pat Ewing Jr., and the Hoosiers broke to a 17-2 lead in the game's first five minutes. Ball State was forced to play catch-up the rest of the way, using an 8-0 spurt at the end of the half to get within 40-28 and a 10-2 run early in the second half to close to 44-36 with 15:19 left. The 40-point first half was Indiana's most productive opening half of the season. After the Cardinals made it 48-40, Indiana scored six straight to make it 54-40, and Ball State never got closer than nine the rest of the way. Indiana made 17 of 21 free throws in the final 11 minutes to close out its 14th straight win over the Cardinals. Indiana won for the first time since Nov. 27. Ball State still has not beaten the Hoosiers since Dec. 11, 1937.
