Youngstown man set for court in hit-and-run fatal accident

GIRARD --A Youngstown man will appear in Municipal Court here Thursday in a fatal hit-and-run accident Dec. 17 in Liberty Township.
Rodney Pippin of Coronado Avenue is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of Clayton Orechoneg, 71.
Pippin was originally charged with aggravated vehicular assault after the accident, which occurred at Belmont and Trumbull avenues. But the charges were upgraded when Orechoneg died of his injuries the following day.
According Ohio State Patrol reports, Pippin is accused of fleeing the scene of the accident, which occurred after he ran a red light and his car hit the car being driven by Orechoneg.
Pippin is in Trumbull County Jail, with bond set at $100,000.
