TRUMBULL COUNTY Masury man is arrested after scuffle with deputies

The Masury man is accused of striking two deputies at the jail.
WARREN -- A man arrested on a probation violation faces charges after scuffling with deputies Christmas Eve at the Trumbull County Jail.
David A. Peterson, 42, of South State Line Road, Masury, is charged with resisting arrest, falsification and assault, the sheriff's department reports.
Several officers had to "physically control" Peterson, who complained of soreness to his side; an incident report says there was swelling to an eye and abrasions to his nose.
He was taken to St. Joseph Health Center for an evaluation.
According to witnesses, Peterson came to the jail lobby at 10:31, initially hedged on identifying himself, and asked to see the jail nurse, a friend. Officers noted he was wanted on the warrant from Eastern District Court.
Told he was being arrested and while being handcuffed, Peterson turned and struck deputy Nicholas Timko in the left temple with a fist, the report states.
It eventually took five deputies to control him enough on the floor to handcuff him.
It was obvious that the nurse "was agitated by this event" as she'd never seen anyone resist arrest, though she acknowledged Peterson "was actively resisting their attempts," the report states.
Later, as Peterson began to kick while they were removing handcuffs from him in a holding cell, Deputy Robert Altier was struck with several blows to the head, the report adds.
