GIRLS BASKETBALL Grant and Dickson lead Ursuline over Massillon
MASSILLON -- Tyra Grant had 29 points and seven rebounds to lead Ursuline High to a 58-44 victory over Massillon in a girls basketball game on Monday night.
Vannessa Dickson added 14 points for the Irish (6-1), who led 16-8 after the first quarter. Megan Saccomen had six rebounds.
Massillon (1-10) was led by Megan McCune, with 12 points, and Nicole Offenbecher, with 11.
Canfield 51, Hudson 32
CANFIELD -- Kate Popovec scored 24 points and Bryanne Halfhill added 2 for the Cardinals (6-3).
Popovec scored eight points in the first quarter as Canfield led 12-10. The Cardinals led 16-14 at halftime, but outscored Hudson 19-9 in the third period behind Popovec, who scored 13 points.
The Explorers are 3-6.
Warren Harding 74, Hubbard 66
HUBBARD -- Janine McDonald scored 27 points to lead Warren Harding in a shootout.
Desiree Jenkins added 24 points for the Raiders, and Adrianne Battee scored 14.
McDonald and Jenkins had seven points each in the third quarter, as Warren Harding outscored the Eagles 21-12 to take a 53-46 lead into the final eight minutes.
Callie Oyler paced Hubbard with 25 points, including three 3-pointers.
Shari Bullock finished with 15 points and Shelia Drummond scored 11.
Liberty 60, Leetonia 24
LIBERTY -- Ashley White poured in 31 points to lead Liberty.
Michelle Dykes added 13 points for the Leopards (4-5), who jumped out to a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Allison Summers led Leetonia (3-6) with 10 points.
