Note the popularity of concert T-shirt reproductions
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Concert T-shirts are nothing new. But what makes them special now is that they're all about old guys.
A Wall Street Journal Marketplace cover recently featured Ben Stiller marching into a movie premiere in a Bruce Springsteen tour shirt.
Actors, designers, hipsters and trendy kids are all saying hello again to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Alice Cooper, the Beatles, the Doors, Black Sabbath and Motley Crue. The shirts are showing up on magazine covers and in clubs as well as at premieres, the WSJ reports.
The shirts, which cost $75 or more, are not authentic souvenirs from long-ago arena shows. They are reproductions on the Trunk Ltd. Label. The company owners, operating under the banner Cinq Group, have rights to about 1,000 band logos and, thanks to the current close marriage of fashion and music, are enjoying a windfall.
The company plans to diversify with a kids' line and vintage accessories line (Jim Morrison's silver belt, anyone?).
The shirts are available on www.revolveclothing.com. For more information, visit www.trunkltd.-com.
Of course, you could look for the original shirts at thrift or vintage stores .
