Defibrillators donated
CANFIELD -- Mahoning County Career and Technical Center recently accepted the donations of two automated external defibrillators from Sonitrol of Northern Ohio, the company that handles the school's security system. The AEDs are used to restart the heart in case of cardiac arrest. The school bought a third AED so that the school, which is 5.5 acres under roof, would be sufficiently outfitted in all areas in case of emergency. The Cardinal Joint Fire District is responsible for the management of the AEDs, with regular monitoring, testing and replacement of batteries, officials said. The door to the AED cabinet is hooked up to Sonitrol's central monitoring system, and if the door is opened, the company calls 911, and a paramedic/fire engine and ambulance are immediately dispatched.
