PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL Lindsay Whetzel leads Lakeview; Mathews, Chaney also victorious

CORTLAND -- Lindsay Whetzel scored 11 points to lead Lakeview High to a 64-41 victory over Poland, in a girls basketball game on Thursday night.
Alynn Martin added six of Lakeview's (6-3) 38 rebounds, while Britni Morello had five assists.
Lakeview jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 42-17 at halftime.
Alex Rokicki led Poland (2-4) with 12 points.
Mathews 66, McDonald 53
MCDONALD -- Tara Ford paced the Mustangs with 29 points.
Melissa Morrison added 12 points for Mathews, while Sophie Paddock scored 10.
Ashleigh Tondo poured in 21 points and she added five assists, both team-highs for McDonald (6-3).
Amy Dolsak scored 11 points and had nine rebounds for the Blue Devils, while Emily Dolsak scored 10 points.
Chaney 63, Beaver Local 31
YOUNGSTOWN -- Courtney Williams had 14 points and she pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Cowgirls.
Tieara Jones added 13 points and a team-best eight steals, while Quiana Faison finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Chaney (5-3) led 15-4 after the first quarter and 32-17 by halftime.
Katie Farmer led Beaver Local with seven points.
