KENT -- DeAndre Haynes scored 14 points and passed for 12 assists to lead Kent State to a 96-80 victory over Notre Dame College on Wednesday.
The Golden Flashes (8-2) placed five players in double figures and shot 56 percent from the field. Kevin Warzynski had 18 points and Nate Gerwig made 8-of-8 shots to finish with 17.
Jerome Pierce made 5 of 9 3-pointers and scored 23 points for the Falcons (7-7), who outrebounded Kent State 34-31. Dave Hilborn added 22 points.
Kent State opened up the second half with a 14-0 run to take control.
Toledo 68, Auburn 65
CAROLINA, Puerto Rico -- Keith Tripplet scored 13 points and had five steals to lead Toledo in the San Juan Shootout tournament. Three teams finished the tournament tied at 2-1, but Auburn was crowned champion on a tie-breaker. Toledo (3-5) won with a 13-4 run in the final 4:40 of the game, led by six points from Keonta Howell. Guard Toney Douglas, selected tournament MVP, led Auburn (8-4) with 23 points and two steals. Nathan Watson had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Justin Ingram added 13 points for the Rockets and Sammy Villegas scored 11.
Butler 74, Ball St. 68
INDIANAPOLIS -- A. J. Graves scored 14 of Butler's final 16 points, including all eight of his free throws, and the Bulldogs held off a Ball State comeback. Graves finished with 29 points and Avery Sheets scored 14 points for Butler. Terrance Chapman led Ball State with 23 points and a game-high nine rebounds, Peyton Stovall finished with 15 points and Julien Mills had 14.
Western Michigan 74,Virginia Tech 68
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Ben Reed scored 13 of his 20 points in the final eight minutes for Western Michigan. Carlos Dixon led Virginia Tech with 14 points and Zabian Dowdell had 13.
