AREA COLLEGES Kenyon stops Allegheny, 72-68; Thiel and Slippery Rock both fall
GAMBIER -- Andrew Good scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help Kenyon beat Allegheny 72-68 on Wednesday.
Arlen Galloway added 13 points for the Lords (2-9, 1-1 North Coast Conference), while Tyler Rehm had 12. Josh Klinger passed for nine assists and only committed two turnovers.
Casey McCloskey had 19 points and five assists for Allegheny (3-6, 0-2), which shot 39 percent from the field. Justin Schmitt finished with 11 points.
Kenyon shot 58 percent from the field in the first half and led 36-29 at the break.
Matt Majzlik also had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Gators.
Houghton 66, Thiel 54
NEW CONCORD -- C.J. Hunt led Thiel with 12 points in the consolation game of the Muskingum Christmas Tournament.
Stephen Laird added nine points for the Tomcats (4-7), while Daryl Moore and Gary Gates scored eight each.
Kenny Gethers paced Houghton (2-9) with 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Luol D'Awol added 13 and nine boards.
Mercyhurst 79, Slippery Rock 52
Slippery Rock, Pa. -- Mercyhurst scored the first 11 points of the game and never led by less than nine points thereafter.
Bill Johnson scored 20 points and Glenn Reepmeyer added 13 points and 10 rebounds for The Rock (0-8).
Mercyhurst (6-6) was led by Terry Smith, with 21 points; Robert Jansons, with 14, and Andy Kubinski, with 13.
