RedHawks can't keep up with SW Missouri
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Tamarr Maclin scored 14 points to lead Southwest Missouri State to a 69-63 win over Miami of Ohio on Sunday.
Southwest Missouri (6-1) pushed its 28-20 halftime lead to 39-27 with 14:11 to go. But Josh Hausfeld hit three straight 3-pointers for Miami (5-2) to narrow the lead to 39-36 with 12:52 left.
Southwest Missouri scored the next seven points to lead 46-36.
Miami then went on a 15-6 run to close the gap to 52-51 with 7:34 left and tied the game at 53 on a jumper by Hausfeld with 6:25 left.
Maclin scored inside twice and Kellen Easley hit a 15-foot jumper to give Southwest Missouri a 59-53 lead with 4:04 left.
Southwest Missouri, which extended its winning streak to six, fell behind 18-9 with 9:51 left in the first half but finished with a 19-2 run to finish the half.
Easley and Deke Thompson both finished with 11.
William Hatcher led Miami with 17. Hausfeld had 14 and Chet Mason added 12. Danny Horace, who had been averaging a double-double (19.8 points and 13 rebounds) was held to eight points and eight rebounds.
