PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP Odell Eargle leads Rayen against Timken



YOUNGSTOWN -- Odell Eargle led The Rayen School with 23 points and 17 rebounds, as the Tigers won their City Series opener, 62-46, over Canton Timken on Saturday night.
Dominique Crosby added 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals for Rayen (2-4, 1-0). Marcel Finkley added nine points and six rebounds, and Jermaine Cooper had seven points.
Timken (2-4, 1-1) was led by Sidney Lilly, who scored 16 points, and Jeremi Martin had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Springfield 67, Lowellville 35
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Luke Summers finished with 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Springfield (3-2, 2-0 Inter-County League). Zack DeJane added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Aaron Wood had six points and nine rebounds. Dane Dobson added four assists and Mason McCambridge three steals.
Lowellville (3-3, 2-1) was led by Vince Broll's 16 points.
Boardman 76, Kent Roosevelt 56
BOARDMAN -- Jon Kocon scored 20 points, 16 of which came in the first half, as the Spartans (3-4) built a 43-32 lead.
Dan Martin added 15 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Kevin Sikora finished with 10 points.
Laraedo Gray led Kent Roosevelt with 18 points, and Eric Wheeler added 13 and Ryan Brown had 11.
Mooney 67, Chaney 65
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeremy Tomlin scored 22 points for Mooney, which trailed the entire game until the final minute.
The Cardinals improved to 1-3.
Rick Solak had 21 points for Chaney (0-6).
Lutheran East 81,Youngstown Christian 54
YOUNGSTOWN -- Donnell Washington and John Liggins scored 19 points each for Lutheran East (5-0).
Leonard Pitts added 16 points.
Dominic Vitullo led Youngstown Christian (1-5, 0-2 East Suburban Conference) with 11 points, and Stephen Setnick scored 10.
Lisbon 59, Jackson-Milton 42
LISBON -- Dom Defilippo had game-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Lisbon.
Marcus Judy added 12 points and he had 10 assists and three steals for the Blue Devils (4-2), and Tim McClester had 12 points and two steals. Corey Smith finished with 11 points and Steve Tsilmos two steals.
Jackson-Milton (3-4) was led by Mark Balent, who made three 3-pointers and scored nine points.
Girls
HOWLAND -- The Cardinals were outscored 15-4 in the fourth quarter, but won the overtime 5-1 in a 48-44 defeat of Howland.
Brianne Halfhill had 11 points for Canfield. Howland was led by Carly Sabat with 15 points.
Lutheran East 56,Youngstown Christian 49
YOUNGSTOWN -- Alicia Cross scored 21 points and Tylar Hartfield added 15 for Lutheran East (3-3).
Salica Hartfield added 10 points.
Beverly Young scored 17 points for Youngstown Christian (3-5), which trailed 40-37 after three quarters.
Salem 70, Alliance 20
SALEM -- Katherine McGarry led Salem (7-0, 3-0 Metro Athletic Conference) with 19 points.
Sarah Hamilton added 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while Jessica Hamilton had 14 points, four steals and six assists.
