AUSTINTOWN -- Santa's Soldiers is providing a party for families of deployed soldiers of C Company 216th of the Ohio National Guard from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the National Guard Armory, 475 Victoria Road.
Santa's Soldiers is an organization comprised primarily of former members of C Company.
The deployed soldiers were activated Dec. 18, 2003, and deployed Jan. 3.
East Lucius Avenue manarrested in kidnapping
YOUNGSTOWN -- Anthony West, 20, of East Lucius Avenue was arrested on a kidnapping warrant Saturday when cleared for release from St. Elizabeth Health Center. West was booked into the Mahoning County jail pending arraignment today in municipal court.
Police said West was Anthony Brock's accomplice in the kidnapping of two teenage cousins a week ago. Brock, 34, of Youngstown, was shot to death in a car on Cambridge Street when one of the cousins freed himself. West was shot in the head during the gunfire. He ran to a house in the 700 block of Palmer Street to seek help and was taken to St. Elizabeth's.
Petersburg man arrestedon multiple charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Curtis A. Foster Jr., 21, of East South Range Road, Petersburg, was arrested Saturday evening on charges of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe).
Police chased the truck Foster was driving after a Youngstown man reported being assaulted with a stun gun by Foster and punched by a New Middletown man. The second suspect ran when police caught up with Foster, reports show.
The victim, a 25-year-old Whitman Lane man, told police his cell phone and keys were stolen, and he was hit by the truck as it drove off.
Police found a stun gun in the truck and confiscated it.
Foster told police that he, the victim and the New Middletown man had been in Youngstown to buy drugs and that he and the New Middletown man were "ripped off" by the victim after the drugs were purchased.
Sibling preparation classwill be scheduled Jan. 3
WARREN -- Forum Health will hold a sibling preparation class from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
The class is for any child 2 years of age and older whose parents are expecting a baby. The group meets in Conference Room E/F. Cost is $5 per family.

Man escapes injuryafter truck catches fire
ELLSWORTH -- A man escaped serious injury early Sunday when his truck caught fire after an accident on Western Reserve Road.
Ellsworth Township firefighters responded to the call around 5 a.m., according to fire department reports.
The Ford Ranger truck hit a tree, and the truck's fuel tank was punctured in the crash. The driver, whose name was not available, was not injured, but the truck was a total loss, Fire Chief Mike Hubbs said.
