United spills Reserve, 49-47
The Golden Eagles trailed after every quarter, except at the end.
BERLIN CENTER -- United High rallied in the fourth quarter Friday night to upend Western Reserve, 49-47, in a non-conference boys basketball game.
The Golden Eagles (4-2) trailed the entire game, including 15-4 at the end of the first quarter. United got to within 38-35 by the start of the fourth period, then outscored Western Reserve 14-9 in the final eight minutes.
Jake Roelen paced United with 12 points and three assists, while Bubba Taylor added 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.
The Blue Devils (2-4) were led by Dave Ferrando, who scored 19 points and made five 3-pointers. Joe Petro added 14 points and nine rebounds and Jake Zatchok had five assists.
Lowellville 74,Youngstown Christian 44
LOWELLVILLE -- Vince Broll finished with 20 points, nine assists and five steals for Lowellville.
Mario Nero sank four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for the Rockets (3-2), while Rocky Nolfi had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Aaron Agresta scored 10 points for Youngstown Christian (1-5).
Brookfield 62, Mineral Ridge 48
BROOKFIELD -- Sam King tossed in 25 points and Keith Flynn added 10 for Brookfield (3-1).
The Warriors led 29-20 at halftime.
Mineral Ridge was led by Vance Kiersey, who scored 16 points. Wade Campbell added 10.
South Range 64, East Palestine 59
NORTH LIMA -- David Rauch scored 22 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, as South Range rallied for the win.
The Raiders trailed 47-42 entering the final period, but outscored East Palestine 22-12.
Rauch also had 13 rebounds.
Also for South Range (2-1), Josh Less scored 10 points, John Less had four assists and Dan Holloway had three steals.
East Palestine (0-5) was led by Brett Young, who poured in 22 points.
Southern 47, Crestview 39
NEW WATERFORD -- Brad Earich scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds, while Josh Diaz scored 14 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to lead Southern (4-3, 3-1 Tri-County League).
Nick Puckett had eight assists for the Indians.
Crestview was led by Anthony Amabile, with 12 points, and Andy Walton, who scored 10.
